Meet Captain Michael Behot
Meet one of New England's Top Fishing Captains, Michael Behot, and Get To Know His Boat
Captain Michael Behot of MoonDog Fishing is more than just your guide—he’s a lifelong fisherman with a deep connection to the waters of New Jersey. With years of experience navigating the currents of Raritan Bay and the surrounding coastal areas, Captain Michael has developed an expert understanding of local fish behavior, seasonal changes, and the best fishing techniques to match the moment. His calm, friendly approach puts anglers at ease, whether they’re casting for the first time or chasing their next personal best.
What really sets Captain Michael apart is his hands-on teaching style and his commitment to making fishing approachable and fun. He takes the time to explain the process, share stories from the water, and offer real tips that help guests build confidence with each cast. He believes that every trip should be more than just catching fish—it should be a learning experience that deepens your appreciation for the sport and the local marine environment. His patience and knowledge make him especially great with beginners, kids, and anyone looking to sharpen their skills.
As a strong advocate for conservation, Captain Michael encourages responsible angling practices. He promotes sustainable fishing methods, including catch-and-release when possible, to help preserve New Jersey’s vibrant fish populations for future generations. His respect for the water and its wildlife is reflected in everything he does on board. Anglers fishing with MoonDog aren’t just catching—they’re learning to fish with care, purpose, and respect for the environment.
